Inspired by the story of Amy-Claire Davies, written by my colleague, Liz Perkins, I started thinking about my own bucket list.
Amy-Claire, who is facing with amazing bravery a terminal undiagnosed condition affecting her immune system, has created a list of the things she’d like to do before she dies. (As in the film, The Bucket List, with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, a bucket list is made up of things to do before you “kick the bucket”).
On her list, the 17-year-old from Llansamlet has very normal desires, like to pass her GCSEs, watch a sunset, have a boyfriend and go swimming in the sea. But she also wishes for more hard-to-reach things, like to drive an Aston Martin Vantage.
I’m sure everyone has their own bucket list, whether they’ve written it down or not. Mine also includes very normal things – and some which will be harder to achieve.
Some of my list:
- Live in Vancouver
- Get a puppy
- Travel to Asia
- Write a book
- Create a great painting
